Chubb Provides EASILINK Employees Unique Training

Chubb Hong Kong held a Caring for the Elderly Seminar last month for more than 30 EASILINK employees.  This was the third of seven planned seminars offered by Chubb to help employees better understand issues that affect the elderly.

“The Caring for the Elderly seminars are a great resource for our EASILINK employees, particularly those who answer emergency calls from the elderly community,” said Mark Brisson, Managing Director, Chubb Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.  “These seminars are part of our commitment to developing courses that add value to our employee’s professional and personal development.”

Launched in 1994, EASILINK was the first social monitoring service in Hong Kong.  Since then, the EASILINK team, has on average, fielded more than 400 emergency calls per day.

“EASILINK has been so successful because it has provided many elderly with the option to live alone, but without compromising their safety,” commented Brisson.

Subscribers’ homes are installed with an EASILINK base unit which is linked to the Chubb Monitoring Station via a phone line. Subscribers are also provided with a portable remote control that can be worn around the neck. In case of an emergency, subscribers with an effective radial range of 50 meters from the base unit, can alert EASLINK Operators by pressing the button on the remote control to activate the base unit voice mechanism and communicate to the Operator via the same.

When Operators receive emergency calls, subscribers’ details such their name, address and emergency contacts are displayed on the monitor, thus eliminating the need to identify themselves. Furthermore, if EASILINK Operators do not receive a response from subscribers within two minutes, they will notify the nominated emergency contact or dispatch an emergency team depending on the situation.

“Chubb Hong Kong is extremely pleased to provide value-added services to the community. Safety is a top priority for the company – regardless of whether it’s our employees, suppliers, customers or the community – and we will relentlessly develop new ideas that will help keep people safe,” Brisson concluded.
