Chubb Hong Kong Participates in Student Internship Programs

Hong Kong, September 17, 2007 – Chubb Hong Kong, part of UTC Fire & Security and a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) business unit, partnered with local educational institutions to offer students a 12-week internship program.

17 students from the University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University joined Chubb Hong Kong for a 12-week internship program and were deployed across three divisions: Electronic Security, Fire Safety & Information Technology.

“We have been partnering with local universities for the past five years and have found this program to be extremely beneficial for students and Chubb,” said Janet Tsoi, Manager for Human Resources, Chubb Hong Kong Macau and Taiwan. “Students are given on-the-job training, assigned to a mentor and a project relevant to their field of study.”

Students who joined the internship program applied via their university where they rated in order of preference the companies they wished to be attached to.

“Chubb was one of my top five choices,” said Bunsen Lam, a second year student studying E- Commerce at City-U.  “Working at Chubb enabled me to apply the theory I had learned at university to the project I was assigned to. I joined the sales and marketing team and helped enhance their customer database, assisting the sales team to better manage their sales leads,” Bunsen continued.

Bunsen admitted that the learning curve for students who join the internship program was steep. Therefore, he was happy that Chubb assigned him a mentor who guided him through the project he was working on.

“The internship program helped me develop my professional and personal skills and also offered me the opportunity to understand Chubb’s business operations. It was definitely a rewarding experience and a sense of accomplishment knowing that I developed a tool that the sales and marketing team use as part of their daily work,” Bunsen continued.
